2016 Mazda 3 Recall For Fuel Leak From Weld Between Fuel Tank And Re-Circulation Pipe

WASHINGTON, DC (October 7, 2016) – On September 22, 2016, Mazda Motor Corporation filed a safety defect report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to address a concern with certain 2016 Mazda3 vehicles.

There was a report of fuel leaking from the fuel tank of a Mazda3. The cause was investigated and determined to be an improper weld of the recirculation pipe to the fuel tank in the production process.

Approximately 3,849 vehicles are affected in the U.S.

There are no reports of fires or accidents.

Mazda North American Operations is headquartered in Irvine, Calif., and oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States and Mexico through more than 700 dealers. Operations in Mexico are managed by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.
