Six Things You Might Not Know About The MX-5 Miata RF

Mazda MX-5 Miata RF hardtop sports car

Having an MX-5 Miata makes life richer and more fun. With this compact, convertible sports car, Mazda wants to offer even more people a fun-filled life through driving pleasure. The aim of the MX-5 RF design is to offer the excitement of open-air driving with the convenience and comfort of a hardtop.

Mazda employed the philosophy of “innovate to preserve” when it introduced the fourth generation MX-5, building on its 27-year history of being fun to drive while appealing to modern standards of design and comfort. But to exceed expectations for the much anticipated MX-5 RF, Mazda went the extra mile to deliver a car that is as stunning as it is functional.

Here are a few things you may not have known about Mazda’s MX-5 Miata RF.

Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Hard Top

1. Retractable Fastback

The top stows away in about 13 seconds. It is among the fastest power retractable roofs of any car ever made and operates while the vehicle is moving at speeds up to 6 mph.

2. Increased Power

New for 2019, the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter engine receives a power increase of 26 horsepower and 3 lb-ft of torque, while increasing the redline from 6,800 rpm to 7,500 rpm compared to last year’s model.

3. Technology Updates

Seen as the more sophisticated take on the MX-5 soft top, MX-5 RF includes a 4.6-inch, full- color TFT display, which now adopts the available Traffic Sign Recognition. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are also available on the MX-5 Miata RF.

4. A Quiet Cabin

It’s quieter. Extra sound-absorbing material is used in the headliner, front and middle roof panels, and rear wheel housings results in a significantly quieter ride when the roof is closed.

5. The Perfect MX-5 RF for You

Like soft-top models, MX-5 RF will come standard with LED headlights and tail lights. Club models will come with a limited-slip rear differential, Bilstein shocks, a front brace and available Brembo front brakes and BBS wheels. Grand Touring models come with heated leather seating surfaces, adaptive headlights and navigation.

6. A New MX-5 Sound
