CX-30: Re-Emerge with Confidence to Enjoy New Roads

This Crossover SUV is an Exhilarating Drive

Mazda’s CX-30 crossover SUV is perhaps best known for its unique styling, as the compact crossover realizes two contrasting expressions: the flowing beauty of a coupe and the bold proportions of an SUV. Uniting these otherwise disparate design styles is Mazda’s matured Kodo design.

“CX-30 was developed in pursuit of automotive styling as a work of art that inspires our customers throughout their journey,” explained Ryo Yanagisawa, chief designer of the Mazda CX-30.

Beyond its impressive styling, the Mazda CX-30 offers an exhilarating drive. From safety features and handling ready for your next great adventure to a human-centric design and connected services that create an elevated driving experience — CX-30 offers quality and versatility. This crossover SUV reminds people that driving can be fantastically fun, especially when the cares of driving (and the world) can be shed in favor of a pure experience marked by confidence and safety.

Intuitive Accident Avoidance

The Mazda CX-30 helps drivers feel more confident behind the wheel by employing both passive and active safety features. Mazda’s i-Activsense technologies actively support when needed to help prevent accidents before they happen while still keeping the driver in control or to help reduce the severity when accidents cannot be avoided. In addition, Mazda’s passive safety technologies act as an intelligent support system in the event of an accident by helping to minimize impact and injury.

Mazda’s collision avoidance assist safety features offer increased connectivity while adding an extra layer of security onto a deeply ingrained human response. Consider the Smart Brake Support system: it aids the driver by automatically braking when it senses that the driver hasn’t taken an evasive action and a collision becomes unavoidable.

Versatile Size for your Active Pursuits

Whether searching for a great parking spot on your weekly grocery run in the city or cruising mountain roads on a weekend excursion, Mazda’s CX-30 is the perfect companion. As a crossover, its scale is versatile enough to suit both endeavors — and so much more.

Beyond its scale, the Mazda CX-30 has a capable off-road traction assist mode included with the i-Activ AWD system. When off-road traction assist is engaged, CX-30 monitors each tire’s traction closely, watching to see if a tire loses contact with the ground. If that happens, CX-30 will not only direct power to the tires with traction, it will also apply the brake on a wheel with lost traction to help transfer power where it’s needed.

Evidence of the vehicle’s versatility can also be seen in the body design. Black cladding supports active pursuits without compromising on style. “We didn’t want it to be an awkward, practical vehicle simply because it was an SUV,” Yanagisawa explained. “Cladding is normally used to protect the car body, but the turning point in the design process for the CX-30 was the idea that we could use it to black out the entire lower body.”

Essentialist Design and Human-Centric Layout

Designed to enhance the sense of oneness between the car and driver, as informed by Mazda’s Jinba-Ittai philosophy, the CX-30 cockpit was designed around and for the driver. It all starts with the seat — which has been mindfully crafted to help ensure proper posture and position the driver for safe and effective handling.

“As long as humans are steering cars, the Mazda ideal car is one that provides a sense of oneness between car and driver so that the car feels like an extension of your own body,” explained Hiroyuki Matsumoto, executive officer at Mazda.

Inside the Mazda CX-30, every control is designed to be operated without taking the driver’s eyes or attention away from the road. Optional Active Driving Display projects critical information onto the windshield, helping keep driver’s eyes on the road and minimizing distracted driving. The 8.8-inch center screen is used for media and infotainment, and this display is mounted high on the dash within the driver’s natural field of vision.

Safely Connected, from the Palm of Your Hand

Standard on all CX-30 models is Mazda Connected Services. This new service, accessed by logging into the MyMazda app, provides even more convenience, peace of mind and safety for owners. Offering the ability to lock or unlock the doors, remote starting the engine or even activating the hazard lights, Mazda Connected Services keeps the driver in control even when they aren’t in the cockpit. Mazda Connected Services will also notify the owner of any important vehicle alerts or messages from Mazda, such as recall information.

In case of emergencies, Mazda Roadside Assistance or 911 can be called through Mazda Connected Services. Additionally, in-car Wi-Fi hot spot is included with Mazda Connected Services. Being more connected with the car as well as the brand will help heighten the entire premium ownership experience.

Safety and performance go hand in hand, and now more than ever, when our cars are our primary means of transport as well as an at-a-distance way to stay connected, Mazda’s CX-30 offers you more ways to enjoy both.
