Hit the Slopes with CX-50

Mazda Introduces the 2023 CX-50 at National Ski Resort Tour

For those that love spending time in the outdoors, the cold winter months signal the arrival of a beloved seasonal past-time — ski season. Whether you ski, snowboard, snowmobile or snowshoe, the importance of having a capable vehicle to get you up those snowy roads and to the destination of your winter solitude is of the utmost importance. For that reason, Mazda has decided to unveil their most capable outdoor vehicle, the 2023 Mazda CX-50, at a selection of winter resort destinations. The first stop of the tour took place at Grand Targhee Resort in the majestic mountains of Wyoming.

Mazda is partnering with Backcountry magazine to host “Backcountry Basecamp.” This series of activities consists of free backcountry ski and gear demos, avalanche beacon safety drills, as well as introductory backcountry tours complete with accredited guides to help winter enthusiasts safely learn more about entering the backcountry for the first time.

The experience at each stop of the tour has been curated for consumers to see the 2023 Mazda CX-50 for the first time in the wild. Visitors are invited to explore the inside of the vehicle to experience both the premium design elements coupled with ample storage capacity, ideal for any type of outdoor recreation. A crew of professional photographers are on-site to join visitors on the slopes, providing them with high-quality images from their on-hill activities free of charge.

A handful of outdoor advocates were selected to experience the 2023 Mazda CX-50 in the rugged mountain landscape while sharing their perspective of what being more human in nature means to them.

“There really is something special about spending time in fresh air that helps clear away the stress and anxiety that gets built up in our day-to-day lives,” said Aspen, CO snowboarder and adventurer Arielle Shipe. “It’s important to remember you don’t need to be an expert to enjoy time in the outdoors. Any chance that you get to be in nature — whether it’s a walk around the block or a longer adventure deep in the wilderness — should be cherished and celebrated. I think people get caught up in thinking their nature experience isn’t good enough, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Every experience spent in the outdoors is valuable.”

After spending some time with the CX-50, Lake Tahoe-based outdoor advocate Victoria Blue said, “My husband and I have been thinking about upgrading our current vehicles to something that fits our outdoor lifestyle a little better and the CX-50 checks all of our boxes.”

“It has all the space we need for our gear and without adding any accessories is ready to take us on our next adventure right away,” added Victoria’s husband Cody. I’m an outdoorsman first and not a traditional car-guy so having that capability right off the lot is important.”
