Experience CX-30 2.5 Turbo with AWD

Responsiveness Leads to a Feeling of Oneness

Mazda’s CX-30 is designed to effortlessly tackle both crowded city streets and windy canyon roads — but the CX-30 2.5 Turbo with i-Activ all-wheel drive builds on the connected driving experience. The new powertrain and subtle changes to the AWD system upgrade the model for even more confidence. Why adapt an already excellent vehicle? Because Mazda drivers deserve to explore the road like never before.

Turbo Brings Performance Enhancement

The 2.5 Turbo engine gives the CX-30 smooth, powerful acceleration with 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque1, while only experiencing a single mile per gallon reduction in combined EPA estimated fuel economy than the naturally aspirated SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter engine.

Mazda’s turbo engine is unique. While it’s a smaller turbo to be efficient, we’ve figured out a way to maintain the dynamic power of a normal turbo. The system uses a unique cylinder head and process for the exhaust. The compression ratio is also high to help improve fuel efficiency. Overall, this dynamic system improves response and low-end torque to help provide a natural driving experience.

Equipped to offer great driving dynamics, the CX-30 Turbo model has been engineered to provide the driver Mazda’s signature connected driving feel. The more powerful engine and updated SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission is supported with an enhanced differential mount — which can receive more torque in the rear thereby helping the CX-30 2.5 Turbo rotate through a corner more naturally. The suspension was also retuned to be slightly stiffer to support the 2.5 Turbo engine that is heavier than the naturally aspirated engine.

AWD Extends Impressive Handling

Mazda’s Evolved i-Activ AWD with off-road traction assist and 2.5 Turbo work together to provide a refined performance driving experience.

As part of the i-Activ AWD system, the CX-30 features Off-Road Traction Assist, which will retune the all-wheel drive and traction control systems to be optimized for off-road and help reduce wheel slip. When one or two tires are up in the air, or unloaded, as the CX-30 is attempting to climb up a hill, the Off-Road Traction Assist system will apply the brakes to the unloaded tires so that the torque will naturally go across to the other side of the differential to the tire that is on the ground and has the most grip. This reactive system allows the CX-30 to determine what it needs to do to help support the driver’s intentions, even on uneven pavement.

These dynamics create more driving confidence, improving everyday driving while also motivating CX-30 owners to explore more. From city life to refined countryside escapes, the combined performance and capabilities allow drivers the freedom to explore.

A Responsive Experience

Already offering an impressive drive, the CX-30’s capabilities are emphasized with the power of turbo engine and the stability of AWD. With Mazda’s i-Activ AWD and G-Vectoring Control Plus, drivers can explore the road like never before — all with a consistent responsiveness and a feeling of oneness between the car and driver.
